ResearchDescription

Dr.Xiongisanexpertinbacterialpathogenesis,antibioticresistanceandanimalmodelsofinfection,especiallyinendovascularinfections.HerlabfocusesonunderstandingtherolesofStaphylococcusaureuskeyvirulencefactors(globalregulonsandstructuralgenes)whichcontributetotheabilityofthispathogentocausepersistenthumaninfections.Herlong-termgoalistodevelopnovelantimicrobialstrategiesforthepreventionandtherapyofseriousinfectionscausedbyvirulentmicrobes,includingS.aureus.
